A Design Room Discipline for Systems Work

How an Engagement Moves Across the Bench

We inventory every system, integration, licence and owner, then record how data actually moves rather than how the diagram claims it moves. Interviews are short and factual, and the output is a register that becomes the working reference for everything that follows.

We design the target estate and, crucially, the contract between each pair of systems. Identity, network tiers, data models and failure behaviour are all specified here. This is the master sheet from which every later run is taken.

Work is delivered in small increments, each with automated tests, a demonstration and a written change note. Nothing is merged without a review, and no increment is accepted while a known defect remains undocumented.

Before go live we deliberately test recovery, not just operation. Backups are restored, failover is exercised and monitoring is proven to fire. The handover pack contains the architecture, the run book, the change register and the reasoning behind each significant decision.

Under managed support we monitor, patch, verify backups and administer identities against agreed service targets. Every quarter we review trends with the client, and recurring faults are scheduled as design fixes rather than tolerated as routine noise.
